It's a Little Known Fact...

What's in a name?

Before I get into today's fact, let's look at a couple of names. Let's take, oh I don't know, Skullgrin. Let's look at the two root words. Skull. This is a sign of terror and awe. It signifies strength, courage, and power. Grin. This shows confidence and good humor. Now, put the two together. Skullgrin. A strong, terrifying, courageous being who is not afraid to do his job, do it well, and do it with a smile on his face.

Now let's look another name. Let's take, and this is just out of the blue, Hoist. It signifies the ability to pick things up. And really that's about it. 'Nuff said, if you ask me. But let's move on to the next name and reason for this article.

Megatron.

When people hear that name, they think of power. But that's because of his character, not the name. Really, when you think about it, the name appears to be a bunch of nonsense. Or is it? There's more to Megatron's name than just a pile of random letters arranged on a Scrabble board by Apeface. It all stems from this: it's a little known fact that Megatron was a couch potato. He watched TV all the time, especially one show.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. Before the Great War, Cybertron was a nice place, but a rather dull one for a Decepticon. So Megatron sat down one day and flipped on the television. One show in particular caught Megatron's fancy: "TRON." He watched it over and over and over. He simply could not turn away from Bruce Boxleitner's fantasic acting ability and all those pretty lights. Eventually, after thousands of years of watching this show, Megatron (for reasons I persoanally can't grasp) decided that it was time to turn away from "TRON," Walt Disney's cinematic masterpience. To get over his growing obsession with the movie, he tried to take up a number of different hobbies. He tried knitting, jogging, and forging ball bearings. But every time he tried something new, he simply fell deeper into his obsession.

Finally, after his one millionth viewing of "TRON," Megatron decided he needed something BIG to get this off his mind. It had to be something that would keep him so busy that he would be able to think of nothing else. But this wasn't any ordinary movie; this was "TRON." Megatron decided it would take nothing less than the conquering of the entire universe to keep him busy.

Oh, sure, Megatron sometimes wonders what it would be like to watch "TRON" just one more time, but he fights the brave fight and always resists. He hasn't even seen "Scarecrow and Mrs. King." He has bigger things to worry about now. But, so that he always remembers how far he's come, his name commemorates that one millionth viewing of "TRON," that moment when he turned his life around: Megatron.

It couldn't have been all bad though. I did get a nice sweater out it.
